One Nation, Divided

There’s a new, emerging division in our society, and it’s not what you might expect. It seems the new divide is between the Doomsayers and the Delusionals. Doomsayers can only focus on how terrible things are in the world right now. They are allowing themselves to be pulled like taffy as they attempt to keep up with the latest terrible thing in the news cycle. On the other end of the spectrum, the Delusionals are choosing to keep on the rose-colored glasses and believe that “good” will always win over evil. They think that everything is going to be okay in the end, and if things are not okay, then it must not be the end.
As with most things in life, the middle path will prove to be the best one to navigate the world we live in right now. Certainly, we need to keep hope alive, and we would do well to envision the type of future we actually want. We also need to mind our thoughts. We will still have negative thoughts, but when they come, we don’t linger or move into a downward spiral. Maintaining balance is especially important because of the Universal Law known as “The Law of Attraction.”
In a nutshell the law of attraction can be defined as “like attracts like.” Being a Universal Law, it has been around since the beginning of time, but gained popularity in the early 2000s with the publishing of “The Secret”. I think it’s time to revisit this idea that whatever thoughts we are focusing upon is what we will see the most in our lives.
If you remain delusional, then you may miss the really important moments that could help the betterment of society. Delusionals may not be as action oriented as they need to be. It’s too easy to rely on others and ideas about how things could be without actually taking the necessary steps to make the world a better place.
The Doomsayers are so wrapped up in negativity they can’t see the path out. They may have already given up and given in to the end of society as we know it. Doomsayers may even be planning their escape route.
Knowing that you will see more of what you dwell on, or think about, it makes sense to seek balance between delusion and doom. Happily, as a practicing yogi/yogini, you are already well trained at noticing the way your mind works.
So, what are some practical steps to use the Law of Attraction to help ourselves and the world? First, we need to stay apprised of what’s going on in the world, but we can’t stay connected 24/7. Take news breaks. Practice discipline around the content you are allowing into your psyche, and make sure it is lifting your spirit not deflating it. Do things that regulate your nervous system like yoga, pranayama, and meditation. Eat well, enjoy nature every day, and do the things you love and fill your cup.
You’ve certainly heard that you have to take care of yourself before you can care for others, so I believe the most important thing that you can do to help society right now is to take care of yourself. Do the deep healing work. When you focus on healing yourself, you will raise your vibration. When you raise your vibration, it exponentially affects those around you. Pretty soon, the whole world is lifted. People all over the world are starting to wake up because so many others are healing. Because of the internet, we are connected like we’ve never been before. Allow yourself to be inspired, connect, and rise. We can do this!
