Everyday Intuition Building
A narrow path going over a small hill by the sea with low grasses with purple flowers
I was reminded, yet again, today that intuition is not only invaluable, but essential in guiding us through life. Today the reminder came while driving. Maybe you’ve been there, fully stopped at the stop sign, and ready to pull out into the road. You’ve looked, but something tells you to pause. Then over the blind hill comes a big truck barreling over the speed limit. If not for the pause, well…I’d rather not think of it.
We are all born with the innate ability to sense and read situations, people, and places, and this gift is intuition. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. We are all connected and can tune in at will to our innate, intuitive nature. Years of denying and ignoring our intuition sometimes can make it difficult to access and/or believe it, but intuition is like a muscle - the more you use it the stronger it becomes.
A few ways strong intuition can improve your life are:
Easier Decision-Making: Trusting your instincts helps you to make decisions without overthinking or analysis paralysis. This is especially useful when time is limited or you lack all the information.
Heightened Self-Awareness: The only way to lead an authentic life is to become more attuned to your inner voice and what truly matters to you. Listening to your intuition can help you have a greater understanding of your values and desires and make decisions that support who you are.
Improved Health and Wellness: When you listen to your body’s signals and your inner knowing, you make healthier choices. Whether it’s prioritizing self-care, or eating so you feel your best, intuition can guide you toward optimum physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
If you’re ready to start building better intuition, the first and most important thing to do is start trusting it! Pay attention to the way you’re guided. Maybe it comes with the first thought in your head. It could be a feeling or a sensation in your body. The more mindful you are, the more your intuition strengthens.
Here are a few ways to build intuition into your daily life in order to make it stronger:
Anytime during the day that you have to make a choice, pause and ask yourself what’s the best choice? At the store you may say, “should I choose red apples or green?” When you’re getting dressed ask, “what color would enhance my mood today?” When driving somewhere pause after wondering, “should I take the direct route or the scenic one?”
Practice mindfulness. This can be done anytime, anywhere, in a more formal meditation practice, or both. Try driving without the radio, washing the dishes without doing anything else, or going for a walk paying attention to nature. Use ALL of your senses and be mindful.
Start a morning journaling practice. Use the prompt, “What is my soul calling me to do?” And begin writing without thinking. Write without stopping, keep writing until the page is full. Usually something will come out. Not always at first, but eventually over time, your intuition will kick in and start giving you some amazing information. Things you may have known, but there’s nothing like having it in writing.
I hope you are inspired to build your intuition. I believe it’s truly the best way to have a soul-led life full of contentment, and sometimes it even keeps you safe.
